HOW TO PREPARE FOR CEREMONY
There are questions to ask yourself and questions to be asked, this will help you decide.
Is the Medicine Calling You?
There are many reasons why the medicine might be calling us, from the most subtle to the extreme.
Sometimes in life, we get to a point where we lose that spark and inspiration for the things that once gave us joy. Other times, the way that we've been living our lives starts to cause more harm than good.
Are you holding onto tension, grief or resentment? Sometimes for reasons you can't even remember?
Are you just not feeling like yourself, or don't even know what it is you 'should' be feeling?
Are you wondering why you're repeating the same harmful patterns even though you 'know' you shouldn't?
Are there things and people you could benefit from forgiving?
At these points, the question might arise:
Is something calling me deeper?
The 'Almost There' Feeling
You might have 'done the work', might have tried the therapy, and still you aren't fully satisfied with where you are in your growth.
That's ok and that 's normal, we all go through periods in life where we feel that there must be more to life, another horizon to our potential.
You might have a lovely family, but you still don't feel fully complete.
You might have the job you always thought you wanted, but still you find yourself just going through the motions without that same zest you once had.
That too is normal.
There could be some patterns that you just can't seem to shake. Emotions that seem so deep you're afraid to look at them, and maybe you're unsure if you can even hold the depth of it all. A disconnection from your body that is unsettling?
We know all of these states personally, and we're adept at holding people through it all.
What Can Ceremony Offer?
Thinking alone can only get us so far, but there is depth and mastery in embodiment.
Ceremony helps us explore those nooks and crannies that we didn't even know were there and arrive at a sense of understanding and resolution.
This can look like:
- Feeling emotions fully, without the usual defenses
- Seeing your life, your patterns, and your relationships with a level of clarity and insight like never before
- Releasing what the body has been holding, for years, sometimes lifetimes
- Reconnecting to a sense of meaning, purpose, or something greater than yourself
- Embodying states of peace, love, or truth that feel undeniably real
The ceremony space also helps us cultivate deep friendships with like-minded people, a sense of being seen and understood. A place where you can unzip and be your authentic and vulnerable self with full acceptance and freedom, that alone is liberating.
The Role of Ceremony
The medicine is only one part of this work.
How the space is held matters even more.
Ceremony creates a container where your system can begin to trust enough to open.
In the spaces we hold, this means:
- Your nervous system is supported, not overwhelmed
- There is structure, so you don’t feel lost inside the experience
- You are guided when needed, but never forced
- What arises is met with presence, not judgment
Without a grounded container, these experiences can feel disorienting.
With the right support, they can become deeply clarifying, regulating, and transformative.
The Power of Community
Something shifts when you are in a space with others who are also choosing to be real.
To feel.
To open.
To meet themselves honestly.
We always tell newcomers, "You might come to ceremony alone but you'll leave with a bunch of best friends."
In these spaces:
- You are seen beyond your roles or identity
- You begin to recognize parts of yourself in others
- There is a natural softening that happens when you’re not holding everything on your own
- A deeper sense of belonging can emerge
This is something many people don’t even realize they’ve been missing.
What This Path Is & Isn't
This work is not about escaping your life.
It’s about meeting it more fully.
It’s not about bypassing what’s uncomfortable.
It’s about building the capacity to be with it — and move through it — in a different way.
It's not about feeling better and holier than everyone around you.
It's about realizing that everyone is on a unique journey in this mysterious game we call life.
And it’s not something everyone should rush into.
There are times when the most aligned step is actually to ground more, stabilize more, and build internal safety first. Discernment is key here.
Listening to the Call
If something in you feels open… or curious… or even slightly activated reading this…
That’s enough.
You don’t need to force clarity.
You don’t need to decide everything right now.
Sometimes the first step is simply being honest with yourself:
“There’s something here for me.”
And letting that be enough.
